Sales PersonWe love to help our customers make their gardens more beautiful, whether that involves helping to select one plant for a trouble location or an entire brand-new potted garden for a deck. Our customers come to us for our plant knowledge and our design eye. We aspire to offer top notch design services to all of our customers. Being a sales person at Flora Grubb Gardens requires a lot of skill. You'll need to know a lot about plants, know how to find information about plants you are not familiar with, and have a strong interest in acquiring more plant knowledge. You'll need to have some experience making gardens and have a great eye for design. You'll work on our sales floor of our retail store. This is not a desk job. You'll need to be prepared to be on your feet all day. You'll need to be reasonably fit and able to routinely lift and carry 25 lbs. You must enjoy working with people as much as you enjoy working with plants. You'll need to work well with our customers, inspire confidence in them, and foster long term relationships with them and their gardens. Being a part of the sales team here is a fantastic experience. Our team is fun, incredibly creative, knowledgeable, mature, and easy to get along with. If you've felt isolated working as an independent garden designer, you might really enjoy working in the nursery environment. We'd love to hear from applicants with experience in retail nurseries, and we are also thrilled to consider applicants with landscape design experience. We know that working in the field rather than in a nursery means your Latin is likely to be a little weak. Don't sweat it. If you know and love plants, you'll get the Latin in no time on the job. We are not looking for applicants with neither landscape nor nursery experience at this time. If you are passionate about garden design, please do get in touch! We offer benefits including health insurance. You'll need to be ready to work all weekend every weekend. We'd consider a part to full time position. Customer Service Super StarWe’re looking for an experienced customer service pro to work at our cash register. You’ll ring folks up, answer tons of questions, help connect our customers to the appropriate sales person, answer the phone, keep our cash register station clean and well organized, and spread good feelings to everyone you interact with. The Cashier at Flora Grubb Gardens is at the hub of our customer’s experience. Our customer is the most important part of our business, and it will be your job to assure that every interaction with our customers expresses how important they are to us. You must be endlessly patient. You should already have enough customer service experience to know whether you have the constitution to answer the same questions over and over again all day long. You must have a really nice personality. You’ll set the tone at our cash register. You’ll need to help us create an inspiring, uplifting experience for every customer. You must have a passion for creating and following processes and procedures. We’ll count on you to be the champion of the processes we’ve developed, and to help us constantly improve them. You must have an excellent ability to deal with interruption. All of the science is telling us that multi-tasking makes people inefficient and stressed out, but multi-tasking is not something we can eliminate from this job. So you’ll need to have already developed great skills for dealing with the natural human tendency to drop the ball when you’ve got six things going on at once. You’ll need to know a lot about plants and gardens. At the cash register, you’ll get a lot of practical questions about plant care. You’ll need to be able to answer them authoritatively and also admit quickly when you don’t have the answer and find someone on staff who does. No BS when it comes to plant care, our customers need accurate advice. You won’t need to have the kind of super star plant ID skills required to work as a sales person here at FGG. Experience as a professional gardener or landscaper would be great. The ability to identify plant pests and diseases would be a major plus. Nursery WorkerWe are looking for a friendly, strong, motivated person to join our team. You’ll do heavy physical work every day so you’ll need to be strong and fit. You will work with our customers every day so you should love working with people as much as you love working with plants. You will be expected to lift, carry, and move heavy products on a daily basis, sometimes for many hours in a row, sometimes all day long. You must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly. You’ll be responsible for loading sold merchandise into vehicles, cleaning the nursery, moving large plants and heavy pottery, hauling plants around in our yard and creating displays with direction from more experienced staff members. Customer service experience in any industry would be a major plus. You’ll be responsible for greeting customers and connecting them to a more experienced sales person when necessary. You'll get a lot of questions about plants so you’ll need to be able to admit quickly when you don't have the answer and find someone on staff who does. You’ll need to have had some plant and garden experience, and a passion for gaining more. We’re looking for someone who wants to learn! You should have a passion of horticulture and a strong interest in garden design. You’ll be in a great position to learn from the skilled horticulturalists and garden designers who work here. You’ll sometimes drive our delivery truck. Some experience driving a large vehicle would be helpful. A valid driver’s license and clean DMV record will be required. |
