Looks like we are in for a nice warm Indian Summer. Warm late summer evenings in my garden feel like heaven to me, I hope you are finding time to get out there and enjoy. There are so many amazing things in the nursery right now, I had a tough time deciding which ones to tell you about. Here are a few I know you will love.
Some Very Cool Plants...
Musella lasiocarpa "The golden lotus of the earth" is perhaps the most romantic common name I have ever heard. This small banana relative has a huge lotus-like flower that emerges from among the leaves, and continues to open in a star-like pattern over many months. It is from China, where it is considered sacred by Buddhists. Grow in full sun to part shade, in the ground or in a pot. See a picture.
Fuchsia Boliviana 'Alba'
The Glorious and hard to find fuchsia bears bunches of slender blooms that flare at the tips. The flowers are followed by beautiful, edible shiny black fruits. This Fuchsia has an elegant arching habit and big, silky green leaves. See a picture.
Passiflora 'Purple Tiger'
A new Passion Flower! The size of the Bloom on this guy is unbelievable. The flower petals are crimson red, and the alien-esque filaments are tiger striped and wavy. The flowers are sweetly scented. Even the evergreen leaves are huge. See a picture.
A true rarity for you Palm nuts- a fast-growing, very rare, majestic tree from high in the Bolivian Andes. Give it full sun, ample water, regular fertilizer, and stand back and watch it develop quickly into a graceful and substantial palm with a hefty, fiber-clad trunk and finely divided pinnate leaves. Once established, it will tolerate drought. Can reach 20 feet tall in 15 years. Just when you thought it was too good to be true, this tree also produces edible miniature coconuts.

We have broken ground at our new store on Jerrold Ave. There is real construction happening, and we could not be any more excited about it. We know you will come and visit us at least once a week once we have easy parking and a cup of coffee for you!
